Papillon

Also called the Continental Toy Spaniel, the Papillon has a tail which is long and plumed and carried curled over the back. For this reason the Papillon was once called a Squirrel Spaniel. Its long lustrous coat is white with patches of any color, except liver. The butterfly ears are carried either erect or drooping. Papillon with drop ears are called Phalene Papillon (Moth). There is a well-defined white nose band. It has an alert and intelligent expression.

Parson Russell Terrier

Formally known as the Jack Russell Terrier, the Parson Russell is now recognized by the American Kennel Club. This small, compact, athletic dog looks like a less refined working Fox Terrier. White (at least 51%) with reddish black, tan, or brown markings, especially in the head and tail. The skull is flat between the ears, then tapering. The stop is defined, but not abrupt. The nose is black and the almond-shaped eyes are dark.

Pekingese

The Pekingese has an extravagant, long, straight-flowing coat that has profuse feathering and comes in all colors. It has a broad head that is wide between their large, dark, lucid and slightly prominent eyes. The face is flat with a dark, wrinkled muzzle, and drooping heart-shaped, long feathering ears. Their necks are short and thick. When their mouth is closed, neither teeth nor tongue should show. These tiny, heavy boned dogs have a characteristic rolling gait.

Pembroke Welsh Corgi

Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen

The Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen is a small, rustic dog with an unkempt, natural- looking, harsh, wiry coat, shaggy eyebrows, beard and mustache. The PBGV has a double coat. The inner coat is for warmth and is soft. The rough single coat protects the dog when hunting in thick underbrush. The Pharaoh Hound is a graceful, athletic sighthound. The muscles are lithe, never heavy. The head is wedge-shaped and chiseled. The flat skull and muzzle are long and slim. Plott Hound

Pomeranian

The Pomeranian is a tiny, fluffy dog with a wedge-shaped head and pointed erect ears. Some have faces that breeders liken to a fox; others have baby-doll or "pansy" faces. Poodle

Puli

The Puli (Pulik plural) is an ancient breed of Hungarian sheep dog, medium-sized, sturdy with a unique, corded coat. A full adult coat can reach to the ground. Some colors are not permitted in some countries but, in the U.K., black, any shade of gray, apricot (with or without a black mask) and the rarer white are all permissible. Their body shape is square and, though fine-boned, fairly muscular.
